Ans:- It was Sadao’s moral duty as a doctor to treat the wound, wounded or injured irrespective of the person’s nationality. So, Dr Sadao treated the wounded American prisoner, even though it would seem unpatriotic act on his part.

Ans:- Dr Sadao Hoki was a famous Japanese surgeon and scientist. He completed his study of medicine in America. He lived in a house which was built on the Japanese coast. The house was surrounded by pine trees.

Ans:- Yes, Hana helped the wounded man. The wounded American was in a bad condition and needed to be washed before being operated on. Hana did it out of her compassion for another human being, and chiefly because her servant Yumi had refused to do so.
Q10. What did Dr Sadao and his wife do with the man?
Ans:- Dr Sadao and his wife Hana brought the wounded man to their house and helped him greatly. Sadao operated on him and saved his life. Hana washed him and served him when none of the servants wished to enter his room. Together, they provided for the man and helped him survive. Dr Sadao finally even helped him escape.

Ans:- Though it will be quite unlikely that Dr Sadao would be arrested for harbouring an enemy. The old general was being treated by Dr Sadao. If Sadao would be arrested, there would be no one to operate upon the general in case of emergency. So, Dr Sadao wouldn’t be arrested.
Q12. What will Dr Sadao do to get rid of the man?
Ans:- Dr Sadao faced many problems due to presence of that wounded man. So, Dr Sadao and wife Hana will decide to get rid of that man. At first Dr Sadao would inform the general who would promise Sadao to make that wounded man slay by his slaughters. But when nothing will happen, Sadao would himself take risk to send him back to his country. He would arrange a boat and send him back to his own country through the way of sea. Thus that wounded American war prisoner would escape. Now Dr Sadao and his wife Hana will get rid of the enemy.
