Ans:- Jo wants Roger to be treated well by his friends that’s why when Roger is given a new smell of roses by the wizard (magician), Jo becomes very glad, because now, Roger is happily accepted by his friends. So, Jo believes that the story has ended.

Ans:- When Roger Skunk returned home smelling like roses. He was very happy. But his mother was angry. She told Roger that he didn’t smell like a skunk anymore. She was angry because Roger had lost his originality.

Ans:- Jo is the four years old little daughter of Jack. Jack tells her stories out of his own imagination. As these stories are woven around the same basis plot, they are almost predictable for Jo. However, she still listens to them very attentively. She even asks different questions from her father, and corrects him, if her father does anything wrong.

Ans:- The story could possibly have continued along the same plot line as all of Jack’s stories did. The wise owl advised Roger to go to the wizard. The wizard would help Roger with his enchantment (Mantra). Roger’s problem would be solved and he would happily return home. Then all the family members would have a nice dinner.
Q11. What is the moral issue that the story raises?

Ans:- The moral issue that the story raises is whether parents are the best judge of what is good for their child or not. The author has displayed the view of an adult and a child about life. In the story, the child Jo felt that the happiness of being able to make friends is more than anything else and so she wanted the story to end with Roger Skunk smelling of roses.
On the other hand, Jack ended the story by saying that the mother was right in getting Roger’s smell back to its original state. Though Jack wants to impose his opinion that parents are always right for their children, he also advocates that children should respect their parents’ opinion and obey them without asking even questions.

Ans:- It is quite true that children are the innocent and considered close to God. Their view about life is quite different from adults. They even don’t know, what is right or wrong. There is no bad intention in the child’s mind behind doing any deed. It just does it because its perspective on life, its actions and reactions, are natural and not guided by any past experiences. A child speaks from the heart what seems to be ethically and morally correct. So, mind of children are quite different from adults.

Ans:- Roger Skunk went to the wizard to get rid of his awful (Bad) smell. The wizard asked him what he wanted to smell like, and Roger replied that he wanted to smell like roses. The wizard then chanted a spell (Mantra) and changed his smell to that of roses. Roger Skunk was very happy, as now everybody liked to play with him.
